“Lord, Work on Me”

Man has the ability to fix certain things that are broken. Some are good at mechanical things and can fix cars or even computers. Others can fix houses or restore antiques. We can fix many things that we made. But who can actually fix something non-physical like a broken heart, a desponded spirit, depression or one who has been hurt or crushed from life’s circumstances.

Just as David asked God to search him for any sin of omission or commission so we need to allow God to run a diagnostic check on our hearts and minds. When we allow the Lord to do a thorough examination of our motives, perspectives and shortcomings then we are able to grow stronger in the Lord in all aspects of our life.

Psalm 139:23-24 – Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: 24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

David had an attitude that would suggest that before we judge others…we must be willing to turn the mirror on ourselves. If you want God to work on you, you need to have a refurbished investigation and allow God to get to the truth in your life. Too often we want to hide our dirt like we do with the filth in the back and bottom of the refrigerator. We allow it to stay there and fester without ever pulling it out to clean it up. What is hidden and not seen is alright by us. The fact that the dirt is there is the problem. David said, “Lord, give me a clean heart, so I may serve thee. Lord fix my heart so that I may be used by thee!”

Are you willing to be used by God? Are you willing to open up the dark places of your life so that God can fix it and clean you up? When we allow God to lead us…we can go further than we have ever gone before.
