“You Served Me Cold Food!”

By admin

So, I think that the Lord is speaking to me concerning my stops at fast food restaurants.  But to my defense, this time it was necessary, and I had my children with me so I had no choice.  Here is the story…I was driving back from Dallas on Sunday morning making my way to church for service.  I contemplated where I needed to stop because I was pressed for time and I needed every minute I could save.  After passing up many fast food places I chose to stop at Burger King in this city that I will not mention (It is between Round Rock and Waco and rhymes with dimple).  There was no line and I said thank you Lord for a quick service.  I ordered food for my kids and I ordered my breakfast sandwich.  This time I actually looked at the sandwiches to make sure that the order was right (prior blog) before I drove off.  As I was getting on the highway and I pulled back the paper and bit into my sandwich…IT WAS COLD!!!  I mean what!  The cheese wasn’t melted, the bacon was cold, the sausage was cold, and the croissant bread was cold.  I mean it felt like someone just took it out of the refrigerator and put it in a bag.  Disappointed and disgusted I thought of how the scene would play out in my mind if I had the time to rectify the situation.

I thought about going back and making the lady take a bite and she give me her take on the nature of the sandwich.  Then I thought about the fact that she just took my money and gave me my food so the cook should eat what they are serving.  So many different things ran through my mind.  But because I didn’t have time…I had to eat a cold sandwich and press my way to church.  As I was driving, I said that the people need to hear about this, so I decided to write about it.  What lessons can we learn from this experience?

  • Although I appreciated fast service, I didn’t appreciate the end result.  Too often we want a quick fix or quick approach to what we are trying to do without thinking about what the result will be.  When we serve God in our churches are we just trying to get it done or are we trying to get it done RIGHT!  How many of us are serving cold food to the people we serve?
  • The fact that I entrusted them to give me warm or hot food, I ended up now having a bad taste in my mouth for that sandwich and my attitude toward that fast food chain is tarnished.  When we don’t pay attention to what we are doing and how it may affect someone else, we may end up turning others off to what we are serving.  If we are not paying attention to our work and service, we may end up losing people in the Kingdom rather than winning souls to Christ.
  • I didn’t get what I paid for.  The days of $1.00 breakfast sandwiches are over.  These sandwiches are now $3.00 or more.  I paid good money for a bad meal.  I did my part, but I was failed in the end.  We must make sure that when people do their part, we are faithful to our part.  Whatever it is we need to make sure OUR WORD is OUR WORD!  That we are staying true to what we are advertising.

These are my few scattered remarks concerning my Sunday morning experience.  Here is the end result to my breakfast experience.  If I would have just made it to the church without trying to fix my own problem, I would have had a better experience.  When I walked into my office there was a hot breakfast waiting on me.  How many times do we get ahead of God trying to solve our own issues rather than trusting and praying that God will deliver and already have your blessings waiting on you!

Be Blessed!
