“Pimp Down and In Distress!”
I know you like what the what is this blog going to be about. Lol. Well my mind was thinking about how so many people endure so much in life, that they can relate to this cry for help. For those of who that don’t know what I am talking about let me explain. This cry for help came from the movie “Next Friday”. The comedian Katt Williams played a pimp named “Money Mike”. When he was knocked down or in distress he would holler out for Donna and say, “Pimp Down and Pimp in Distress!” Now before you get all high and mighty on me, I am not advocating for pimping or that lifestyle but I am relating this cry for help to what we experience in our lives.
I don’t care how saved, sanctified and filled with the Holy Ghost we are, there are times in our lives where we feel pressed down and stepped on. I can remember when I was younger and guys bigger than me would sit on me or pin me down to where I couldn’t move. It was so frustrating because I had no control over my deliverance or freedom. No matter how hard I squirmed or fought, I could not free myself. The only thing that freed me was when a friend would come and move them off of me. That is what God does for us. The enemy will pin you down and keep you pressed down. You try to fight, you try to free yourself but to no avail. God will then come down and move what has you pinned down giving you relief and freedom.
One thing I notice about Pimps is that they live off of being in control. That is why that distress call in the movie was so funny because he was crying out to others for help in his time of distress. Too often we share the same characteristics. We want to be in control and our distress cries come when we get knocked down or pinned down with no choice in the matter. I have learned in life that I don’t control my life. I don’t control my situations. I don’t control my circumstances. All I can do is trust in the Lord and lean not to my own understanding. In the Bible there are several instances where people “cried out” to the Lord. Jonah cried out. Blind Bartimaeus cried out. Others have cried out when in distress. There is nothing wrong with “crying out”, just as long as you know who you are “crying to”.
So the next time you feel pressed down and pinned down, shout out to the Lord. Change the subject of the cry from, “Pimp Down and in Distress” to “Saint Down and in Distress!” God will come and rescue you. 2 Chronicles 7:14 sums it up best…”If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
Be blessed!
