Day 2: Smoke Without Substance in the Sanctuary

Religion without integrity exhausts everyone—even God. The sermon compared hollow worship to smoke that obscures rather than illuminates. Judah’s incense disgusted God because it masked exploitation, neglect, and pride. Authentic faith isn’t measured by church attendance or offerings, but by hearts softened to repentance and hands quick to serve. Without integrity, our piety becomes parody.

“I hate, I despise your religious festivals; your assemblies are a stench to me. Even though you bring me burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them… But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!” (Amos 5:21–24, ESV)
