Day 3: Repentance Is a Continual Turning Back to God

Repentance is not a one-time event but a continual process of turning away from sin and turning back to God. It is more than just feeling sorry for being caught; it is an intentional desire to walk in the glory that God has for you. Even after salvation, we all have areas where we fall short and need to repent. The Holy Spirit gives us the power to resist temptation and to turn around, even when our flesh wants to go the other way. God’s grace and mercy often put barriers in our path to keep us from falling, reminding us that repentance is a daily part of the Christian life.

Luke 15:17-24 (ESV)
“But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have more than enough bread, but I perish here with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Treat me as one of your hired servants.”’ And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him. Day 2: The Word of God Brings Conviction and Change

Hearing the word of God is more than just listening to a sermon; it is about allowing the message to penetrate your heart and bring about real transformation. The Holy Spirit works through the word to convict us—not to make us comfortable, but to challenge us, correct us, and call us to repentance. True hearing leads to action, and the word should never leave us unchanged. Instead of seeking only messages that make us feel good, we are called to embrace the word that rebukes, corrects, and trains us in righteousness, so that we can grow in our walk with God.

James 1:22-25 (ESV)
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.

When the word truly penetrates, it demands a response, challenging us to examine our relationship with God and to step forward in faith, regardless of who is watching or how long it takes. The invitation is for all who are moved by the Spirit, calling us to act on what we have heard and to draw closer to the Lord.

This grace is not earned by our efforts but received by faith, and it is reason to rejoice and live in assurance of God’s love and acceptance.

When we focus on appearances or traditions without genuine connection to God, our worship becomes meaningless and even offensive to Him. Instead, God calls us to come before Him with authenticity, seeking transformation and a real relationship, so that our worship is pleasing and powerful in His sight.
