Day 1: Lifting Eyes to the Hills When the Path Gets Steep
Life’s journey often feels like climbing jagged terrain—ravines at your feet, predators in the shadows, uncertainty around every bend. The psalmist’s song teaches pilgrims to fix their gaze higher than the obstacles, anchoring hope in the Maker of heaven and earth. This isn’t denial of danger but defiance through worship. When the road burns your feet or night hides your way, your help comes from the One who carved the mountains themselves.
I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. (Psalm 121:1-2, ESV)
Reflection: What “song” do you hum when fear whispers? How might lifting your eyes shift your focus from the steep path to the One who levels mountains?
