Day 3: Salt That Lost Its Kick

The church is called to preserve and flavor the world, but bland faith changes nothing. Like salt without savor, religious activity without compassion becomes useless. Isaiah rebuked Israel for ignoring the oppressed while perfecting rituals. True worship fuels justice—defending the fatherless, pleading for widows, correcting oppression. If our faith doesn’t disturb complacency, it’s lost its saltiness.

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything… You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.” (Matthew 5:13–14, ESV)
