Day 3: Doorkeeper in the House vs. King in the World
The psalmist would rather scrub temple floors than feast in palaces of compromise. Titles, wealth, and comfort tempt us to trade eternal purpose for temporary validation. But a doorkeeper’s humble service in God’s presence outshines the hollow glitter of worldly success. True riches aren’t in paychecks or prestige but in proximity to the One who calls us His own.
For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.
(Psalm 84:10, KJV)
Reflection: What “tents of wickedness” (pride, greed, approval) have you been tempted to dwell in? How could embracing humble service free you?
